8:34 - "slave to sin" Isn't that the truth? Doesn't that perfectly describe the grasp that sin has on us? What a great word picture. We are slaves to sin. What do slaves desire more than anything else? FREEDOM!! (as Braveheart put it) Do we desire that same thing? Do we desire freedom from our slavery? Not always. We should. One of my goals for 2008: HATE SIN! Especially my own.
12:43 - they loved the praise from men more than the praise from God. May this never be true in our lives. But I think that it usually is. We love the praise of men. We bathe in the glory of it. But what about the praise of God? Do we even seek it out? Do we live in such a way that He CAN praise us?
I heard once a long time ago that in order to hate sin... wait. What was it I heard? I think it was that we should focus on the consequences rather than the pleasures of sin. What are the consequences of sin? It seems that there was something else, but I can't remember now. Shame on me. I didn't apply it long and hard enough.
What was your favorite book on the 1st read-through?

John 11:40
“Did I not tell you that if you believed you would see the glory of God?” So they took away the stone.
For me, taking away the stone is thanking God no matter what.
