4:42 - The people of the village said to the Samaritan woman that they no longer believed in Jesus JUST because of what she had said, but because they saw first hand. This made me think of kids that grow up in the church and in Christian homes. That is an important thing for those kids. To not JUST believe because their parents or the pastor says so, but to make it their own. Each of us has to make it our own at some point.
6:53-56 - Jesus talks about eating His flesh and drinking His blood. As I read this I thought about what this must have sounded like without the light of the entire NT to shine upon it. I have heard that many people viewed the early Christians as cannibals because of things like this. That is not hard to imagine in light of this passage. Kinda nasty. I am glad that we have the entire Scripture to base our views on.
4:42 Good application. Do you see this as much in India? Are you hearing many stories about how people came to believe? Are they written down anywhere?
What was your favorite book on the 1st read-through?
