We have wondered why Jesus kept telling people to keep quiet about who he was and what he had done. Perhaps Luke 9:21-22 sheds light on it. It wasn't the right time yet. After the crucifixion and resurrection, there would never again be the need for secrecy about his identity. It is hard for me to understand exactly how it all played out since I already know the ending.
Luke 8:44
Many people touched Jesus that day but were not doing it for healing. They just happened to brush up against him. But the woman reached out to touch him with purpose. For healing. May God give me the grace to be less like the crowd and more like the woman.
Luke 9:45
Much of what the NT says is clear and straightforward. But many things puzzle me. I wonder how hard I should try to research and understand the unclear, puzzling things. There were OT scriptures that probably made a lot more sense to the people of the NT than they did to earlier believers. And much of the gospel record made a lot more sense to the disciples after the resurrection than it did before. Why should it be any different now? Much of the NT will make a lot more sense to me in due time, and no amount of research or guessing will make much difference now. It is most important to act on the teachings that are clear and straightforward, and trust God to illuminate the rest in His good time. I’m not saying that it is wrong to research and guess if that is where the Spirit leads, but I don’t think it is wrong to NOT understand everything either. It is all part of the natural progression of God’s plan.
Interesting thoughts. Especially 8:44. Would we just brush by Him? DO we? Or do we reach out to touch Him in a more meaningful way?
My thought was on 9:3-5 : "Take nothing for the journey"
When Jesus sent out the disciples, He sent them out with nothing, to preach and teach. I am wondering how this applies here where I am with the NF workers. Does it? Is is applicable? It seems like the #1 concern/prayer request that we run across is finances. Is that right? Or should the workers be doing the work and trusting God? But what about when they can't afford to eat? Does that mean it is not a need? I don't know.
